Back Story:
While navigating the journey of self-discovery away from my family and New York home, I pondered the essence of love and its manifestations. During my involvement with a man, I embarked on another date to explore the nuances of romance, and it was from this experience that the red roses, now integral to this artwork, were acquired. The central theme revolves around the concept of how I desire to be loved and the corresponding sensations and aesthetics.
In crafting this piece, I drew inspiration from Grace Jones, an iconic figure in the realms of singing, acting, and modeling during the 1970s and 1980s. Her persona serves as a symbolic representation of the delicate equilibrium between masculine and feminine energies within a woman.
